What are the benefits of window tinting? Window tint does a lot more than just look good. It blocks harmful UV rays that damage your skin and fade your interior, reduces glare, and cuts down on solar heat. Depending on the film you choose, you can get basic protection all the way up to maximum heat rejection.
How long does window tint last? It depends on the film. A quality dyed film like XPEL CS Black can last several years with proper care. Nano-ceramic films like XPEL XR Black and Plus are built to last significantly longer often 10 years or ore because the ceramic particles dent break down the same way dye does. At Honest Tint we only install XPEL films, so you’re starting with a product built to last.
How do I care for my tint after installation? For the first few days after install, leave your windows up and avoid cleaning them. After that, use a soft microfiber cloth and an ammonia free cleaner (ammonia breaks down tint film over time) avoid anything abrasive on the glass.
Can I roll my windows down after tinting? We recommend keeping your windows up for at least 48 hours after installation. The film needs time to fully cure and adhere to the glass.

What is the difference between CS Black, XR Black, and XR Plus? Think of it as good, better, best. CS is XPEL’s dyed window tint, it handles the basics like glare reduction and UV protection at an accessible price point. XR Black steps it up with nano-ceramic particles that actively filter out infrared heat, making it more effective than dyed film. XR Plus is XPEL’s top of the line nano-ceramic film and the clear winner for heat rejection it delivers the highest level of infrared blocking available.
Is Ceramic tint worth the extra cost? For most drivers, yes. Especially in California where summer heat is no joke. Ceramic tint like XPEL XR Black and XR Plus actively rejects infrared heat instead of just absorbing it like dyed film does. That means a cooler cabin, less strain on your AC, and a film that holds up longer without fading or discoloring. The upgrade pays for itself in comfort alone.
Does ceramic tint affect my phone or GPS signal? Not at all. That’s one of the biggest advantages of ceramic over metallic films. XPEL’s ceramic tints contain zero metabolized particles, so your GPS, Bluetooth, cellular signal, and WIFI all work perfectly, no interference whatsoever.

What does PPF protect against? PPF is your paint’s first line of defense against the real world. XPEL paint protection film guards against rock chips, road debris, scratches, swirl marks, bug splatter, bird droppings, and environmental contaminants that slowly destroy your paint over time. It takes the hit so your paint doesn’t have to and with self healing technology, minor scratches disappear on their own with heat.
How long does XPEL PPF last? XPEL PPF is built for the long haul. With proper care and professional installation, XPEL Ultimate Plus and Stealth can last 10 years or more. The key is having it installed correctly from the start, which is exactly what our team at Honest Tint delivers every time.
Can PPF be removed without damaging paint? Yes. When installed and removed properly, PPF comes off clean without damaging your paint underneath. This is one of the biggest advantages of PPF over a traditional wrap or respray. We always recommend having it professionally removed rather than attempting it yourself to avoid any risk to your finish.
What is the difference between Ultimate Plus, Stealth, and Color PPF? All three offer XPEL’s top tier protection against chips, scratches, and environmental damage, the difference is the finish. Ultimate Plus is a clear gloss film that protects your paint while keeping your original color and shine intact. Stealth is a satin finish film that transforms gloss paint into a sleek matte look. Color PPF takes it even further, giving your vehicle a full color change while keeping all the protection benefits. Same shield, different style.

What is ceramic coating and how is it different from PPF? Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that bonds directly to your paint, creating a hard, hydrophobic layer that repels water, dirt and contaminants. It gives your car a deep glossy shine and makes it significantly easier to clean. PPF on the other hand is a physical film that absorbs impact protecting against rock chips, scratches, and road debris. Ceramic coating doesn’t have that same physical protection. The good news is they work great together PPF handles the heavy impact protection while ceramic casing sits on top keeping everything clean and looking incredible.
How long does Ceramic Coating last? A professionally applied ceramic coating can last anywhere from 2 to 8 years depending on the grade of coating, how the vehicle is maintained, and the conditions it’s exposed to. At Honest Tint we use XPEL’s Fusion Classic and V2 for paint coatings and prep your paint properly before every application to make sure you get the most out of your investment.
Are there ceramic coatings not for just paint? Yes. XPEL’s Fusion Coatings include coatings for paint, plastics, trim, glass, wheels, and calipers.
